It became a reality today. Our server at work is dead, and the backup is corrupted.
The server stopped working last week. My boss tried to fix it, but was unable. We called a tech guy in, and he couldn't fix it either. Plus, he informed us that the backup server was screwed up too. He was unsuccessful trying to recover data over the weekend and had to send it to his home office. They thought that they could recover the data within a week... I found out today that it is likely that nothing is retrievable.
I spent the first half of my day going around to different computers and searching for files and old backups on the C: drives to try to gather anything that I could to at least partially recreate what was on the server. The second half of my day consisted of re-entering data that we aren't getting back. I will probably spend a lot of the next week doing that, as well as occasionally doing it in the future as needed. I get to work longer hours too, because this work is extra on top of the normal work that needs to get done.
Wow does this totally suck.
Food:
Breakfast:
Leftover Pad Thai from yesterday
Snack:
Bacon
Lunch:
Leftover Chicken from a few nights ago
Pineapple Tidbits
Bacon
Snack:
Vanilla Yogurt with Almonds
Snack:
Almonds
Bacon. I didn't intend to eat all that bacon, but I was at the office longer than expected and became hungry.
Dinner:
Chicken with BWW Sauce and Ranch (I forgot to use sour cream instead of ranch, fewer calories, and it tastes better mixed with BWW)
Rice with Butter
A hunk of Banana Bread. My wife made six loaves of banana bread today. She uses less sugar than the recipe calls for, and replaces it with some honey. So, eating it falls in to one of those grey areas.
Exercise:
I walked at a decent to good pace for about two miles.
"What?" you say. "No jogging today?"
Okay, seriously, you are going to have to lay off. I freaking jogged for almost two tenths of a mile yesterday! Who do you think I am, Superman? I can't jog two tenths of a mile two days in a row, I am only mortal.
